Personal Styling, Stella & Dot, Style, What I Wore, What to Wear

What to Wear: December

I had a party at my house on Sunday. I wanted to wear something festive that didn’t scream Christmas so I could wear it after the holidays. Velvet is a big trend this fall and winter, especially in pants. I considered shopping for black or burgundy velvet pants, but I decided to wear the Lace Skinny Jeans from cabi’s Fall 2016 collection and look for a black or blue velvet top to wear with them.

I found a beautiful, short-sleeved velvet and lace top from Marlo Miller Boutique, a women’s clothing store in Houston. The brand is 4 Love & Liberty by Johnny Was. I wore a black camisole underneath because the lace cutwork is see-through and black heeled boots from DSW. I kept the jewelry simple and wore my Covet Pave Initial Necklace and the Gala Statement Chandeliers.

I found a similar top to the one I’m wearing for the outfit board. It’s also 4 Love & Liberty by Johnny Was. This top would look great with faux leather leggings and booties for New Year’s Eve or with distressed jeans and riding boots for a dressed-down look.

In case you haven’t heard about it, Covet is a new line of fine jewelry and leather handbags from Stella & Dot.  The diamonds are conflict-free and hand set in 14K yellow or white gold. I know it’s hard to see the necklace in the pictures – here’s a close up of what each diamond initial looks like. Click this link for more information about Covet, including prices. (Shhhh! Ours are lower than Nordstrom. 😉 )

Do you like this look? Have you added something velvet to your wardrobe this season? What are you wearing to your holiday parties?

    1. Thanks, Theresa! It was 70 degrees on Sunday, and I always get hot when I’m preparing for a party – all the running around to do the last-minute stuff, so short sleeves were great for me. too!
