I am participating in an Instagram style challenge this month, my first one ever! I found out about it from a fellow cabi addict; she did it in January and posted the cutest outfits. I loved following her on Instagram and talking about her outfits. Because I’m self-employed and don’t go to work in an office every day, I’ve gotten in the habit of wearing workout/lounge clothes unless I have a meeting, appointment, or social event to attend. When I do get dressed, I reach for the same pieces over and over. It’s hard to build your credentials as a personal stylist when you don’t express your personal style on a regular basis!
So it’s #wearwhatwherefebruary to the rescue!
Each day has a theme. I’m enjoying the challenge of coming up with a completely new outfit every day. It’s been five years (when I was teaching) since I’ve had to do that!
Most of the clothes I’m wearing are not for sale anymore, but I’ve linked to a few pieces that are and recreated one outfit with current items. I’ve listed the Stella & Dot jewelry and accessories I’m wearing; you can click here to shop my website. (I am an independent stylist for Stella & Dot. If you place an order through my link, I will earn commission. Thank you for supporting my fashion business!)
Day 1 – Laced Up Lovelies
How cute is this hedgehog sweater from Talbots?? I’m wearing cabi’s Fall 2015 Destruction Boyfriend Jeans (similar here) and grey Chucks. Stella & Dot: Arc Pendant Necklace, Totem Tassel Chandeliers, Sierra Double Wrap Bracelet, Artisan Marquis Cuff, Icon Convertible Watch, Veda Split Ring.
Day 2 – On Repeat
I love this gorgeous tunic from Uncle Frank. I got it at Marlo Miller Boutique in Houston, where I get my favorite Lysse tummy-control leggings (read about why they’re my favorite here.) I also got the black Volatile Riding Boots there. Check out Marlo’s Facebook page to see what she has in the store now – she will ship! Stella & Dot: Totem Tassel Pendant Necklace, Totem Tassel Chandeliers (tassel removed,) Sawyer Stone Stretch Bracelet, Ally Double Wrap, Icon Convertible Watch.
Day 3 – Band of Rose Gold
I love my Bordeaux Skinny Jeans from cabi (read my post about eight ways to style them here) and my port Pamper Me Tee, but I’d never worn them together. The leopard scarf, rose gold jewelry, and brown Volatile Riding Boots perfectly complement this monochromatic outfit. Stella & Dot: Engravable ID Tag Necklace, Resilience Cuff, Icon Convertible Watch (earrings and sparkly bracelet are retired.) Photobomb by Coco. 😉
Day 4 – Blush & Beige
I don’t have a lot of pastels and light neutrals in my closet, so Day 4’s theme was harder to interpret than the other days. Then I remembered my Riviera Tote – the perfect combination of blush and beige! I got the outfit inspiration from this image I pinned from Pinterest last fall:
Poncho, tee, and cargos from cabi’s past seasons. I’d worn the poncho and cargos together but not with the teal t-shirt. I think this is a striking combination, and I’m glad I got to wear it before the temperatures go up to the 70s for good! Stella & Dot: Cleopatra Necklace (new this spring,) Sparkle Studs, Icon Convertible Watch, and Riviera Tote.
Day 5 – Red Hot
This is one of my favorite outfits ever! I’m wearing cabi’s Mesh Shirt and Joy Sweater from past seasons, my trusty denim Lysse leggings, and my favorite Sam Edelman Penny Boots. It was so comfy and cozy on a cold day in Houston. Can you tell I was trying to squeeze in every last leggings-and-boots outfit I could this week?? I kept the jewelry simple because the sweater is so bright. Stella & Dot: Engravable Disc Necklace and Horizon Chandeliers.
Day 6 – Falling for Fuchsia
This is another tunic from Uncle Frank. I love the unusual pattern and the fringe details. There is a cutout with a strip of velvet on the back – so cute! You can see the fuchsia in the medallions and around the sleeves. Brown Lysse leggings and leopard Tieks. Stella & Dot: Havana Pendant Necklace, Isadora Hoops, Icon Convertible Watch, retired gold bangles, and Arrison Stretch Bracelet.
Day 7 – Super Bowl Chic
It’s hard to pick a favorite outfit from Week 1, but this might be it. Striped tee and skirted leggings from cabi last spring, utility vest from Target, and leopard Tieks. I love the combination of the blue and white stripes, olive, and leopard. So fun! Stella & Dot: Engravable Disc Necklace, Rebel Pendant (a celebrity fave and one of my bestsellers,) Adelaide Hoop Earrings, Sparkle Inspiration Bangle, Artisan Disc Cuff, Renegade Bracelet (another bestseller,) Icon Convertible Watch, and Pave Arrow Cuff. And my little photobomber again.
You can get a similar outfit with pieces from cabi’s Spring 2016 Collection. I love the long, asymmetrical hemline of the Boat Stripe Tee, and the Mesh M’Leggings are so comfortable. The front part of the skirt is mesh but the back is solid black like the leggings, so it isn’t see-through. The Explorer Vest is longer than my Target vest and is made of a really nice, structured fabric. It looks great on someone a little taller than I am. You can order these pieces and other items from cabi’s spring collection through my friend and cabi stylist, Lisa Rosenfeld. Here is a link to her website.
Which outfit is your favorite? I’ll post outfits from Week 2 on Monday.
