Stella & Dot, Style, What I Wore

What I Wore in March & April

What I Wore in March & AprilI love going into my closet, picking out an outfit, then choosing my jewelry and accessories from the boutique in my other closet. It’s one of the best perks of my job as a Stella & Dot stylist! I have all the latest trends at my fingertips, with endless combinations of necklaces, earrings, and bracelets to make each outfit unique. I chose some of my favorite looks from March and April to share with you today.

I wore this outfit to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo (HSLR) in March. The rodeo is a BIG deal in Houston, y’all. The HSLR raised over $27,000,000 to support education in the state of  Texas this year. I went with some friends to see Blake Shelton and wore my favorite Uncle Frank tunic. The bell sleeves, fringe at the bottom, and criss-cross tie in the back make it the perfect top to wear with leggings and boots to the rodeo. I often layer a custom engravable necklace with a statement necklace for a one-of-a-kind look.

The Callie Necklace over one of my favorite tunics from Gretty Zueger accompanied me to hear my friend, Sasha, sing Verdi’s Requiem with the Houston Symphony. I wore the black tunic that night, which looks just like this one. (You can only buy Gretty Zueger at boutiques, so it’s nearly impossible to find a picture of the exact top.) I also wore our Amelie Bracelet in silver.

I wore my turquoise Gretty Zueger tunic with the Isa Disc Necklace to a trunk show. I love the versatility of this necklace – you can remove both the turquoise and the disc strands. I’m sad to say that it’s out of stock right now. It should be available to ship on June 5. I finished the look with our lightweight Isadora Hoops.

I did a presentation at my networking group, BNI Memorial, last week, wearing this super cute and comfy tunic. It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but it’s navy and neon orange. I chose the Havana Pendant Necklace because the silhouette shows up against the pattern in the dress. I removed the middle part and attached the bottom one to the top piece. The earrings are the the top part of our Havana Chandelier Earrings – just remove the drops, and you have a pair of studs. I wore my Engravable Bar Necklace with #sdstyle on it for a personal touch.

I wore all of the tops and tunics with my Lysse tummy control leggings from Marlo Miller Boutique. They’re my favorite leggings for a couple of reasons: they have an extra wide waistband that doesn’t roll down when you bend or sit; they are very thick and look nice under a top or tunic that covers your rear end; they have enough give in them to be comfortable, but they don’t stretch out too much; and they hold up through many washes. I hang mine to dry, but you don’t have to do that. Marlo has the best stock at her store on Kingsride. You can read more about Lysse leggings and how to wear them with tunics here and here.

These are some of the new looks for summer. I especially like the zippered leggings because they look like cropped, skinny jeans but they’re more comfy at the top.

The Uncle Frank and Gretty Zueger tunics are from Marlo’s boutique, too. She has the best selection and sizes in the brands I like, and she gets new items in daily (not so good for my wallet but fabulous for my wardrobe!) Many of the tunics and tops in my closet post are from MMB. I love to wear colorful, patterned tops and tunics and neutral pants and leggings.

The orange and navy tunic is from my friend, Jaqueline Smooke’s boutique, Tutu Cute. She has darling things, and I love everything I’ve gotten from her. She is known for her maxi dresses and skirts – I bought my first maxi dress from her last summer. Jacqueline runs her boutique from her home in Memorial, so if you want to try something on, you go to her house. She buys brands that come in regular and plus sizes, which is great for me. Jacqueline also sells children’s clothes and does monogramming. Look for posts featuring Marlo Miller Boutique and Tutu Cute Boutique soon.

Are you a bright, bold, statement necklace kind of girl, or do you prefer classic, neutral clothes and accessories? Whatever your style is, I hope it makes you feel glamorous and confident!
