Stella & Dot, Style

Who wore it better?

I was so excited to see The Voice: Season 3 winner, Cassadee Pope, wearing my favorite statement necklace from Stella & Dot at the Country Music Awards last Wednesday.

Props to her stylist – she looks stunning in this Aidan Mattox dress, and the Kahlo Bib Necklace complements it perfectly. If you love this dress, and you’re a size 0 or 4, you’re in luck – Nordstrom has it! Neiman Marcus has the blush version in sizes 0-12. Not a size 0-12? No worries! I’ve got you covered (scroll down to get the look.) Cassadee Pope isn’t the first CMA star to wear this necklace, though. Miranda Lambert wore it in her video for “We Were Us” last year. (I wrote a post about it here.)

The Kahlo Bib Necklace is on my “no sell” sample list. I usually sell my samples at 50% off at the end of each season to make room for the new line, but I have a short list of fabulous pieces that are never leaving my closet, including the Kahlo Bib. I love to wear it with an LBD, a white t-shirt, a chambray button-down, or a cute tunic. You can truly dress this necklace up or down.

I wore the Kahlo Bib to a star-studded gala for Stages Repertory Theatre last spring. The mixed metals and glass stones draw the eye to your face, which is always flattering. My makeup artist, Cori Ashton, did an incredible job of complementing both my coloring and the colors in the necklace. I felt so glamorous!

And now for some friendly competition!

Cassadee and Me Final

What do you think? Cassadee and I are like twins, y’all.

I wasn’t the only one enamored of Cassadee’s look that night. #FashionbyMayhem created a paper version of Cassadee’s dress. The skirt looks like it’s fabric, but it’s glitter film gift wrap from Michael’s!

If you don’t know about #FashionbyMayhem, you should. Child fashion prodigy, Mayhem (might be a pseudonym, although with today’s eclectic naming style, you never know!) and her mom make paper versions of dresses celebrities wear. Her version of this Project Runway dress is amazing.

And I think Mayhem’s version of Katy Perry’s Grammy dress is even better than the original!

Mayhem’s paper dress is a pretty remarkable likeness, and her Kahlo Bib necklace is adorable. I mean, look at the way the “fabric” in the skirt folds! This girl’s got some serious talent. She designs original paper dresses, too. I think she could give the contestants on Project Runway a run for their money!

Who wore it best Final

Since Mayhem only makes paper dresses, and the exact Aidan Mattox dress is only available in sizes 0 and 4, I did a little fashion sleuthing and found a way for you to get Cassadee’s CMA look in your size (and for less money.)

I love this red carpet look. Cassadee’s dress is elegant and understated, and the Kahlo Bib Necklace adds a touch of sparkle. Who do you think wore it best?

    1. I’m obsessed with Mayhem’s paper dresses. She and her mom just sat down one day and made a dress out of construction paper. Mayhem wanted to do it the next day, and the day after that, and soon they started looking to awards shows and fashion events for inspiration. Her mom writes about the whole process and some of the things they’ve done – like go to NYC for Fashion Week – on the blog. It’s such a great story!
