Stella & Dot, Style, What I Wore

What I Wore: September & October

I haven’t done many outfit posts on the blog. I don’t have a full-length mirror in my bedroom, and I’m self-conscious about my body, so I’ve shied away from posting pictures of myself wearing the clothes I’m writing about. I want to change this so a.) I can show you how to put an outfit together from head to toe; b.) show you how to wear the same item multiple ways; and c.) just get over myself! When I think about the fashion blogs I enjoy reading, they are filled with pictures of the blogger and how she creates outfits that express her style and personality. I should probably do the same thing, right? I put “get a full-length mirror” on my shopping list this week. Baby steps.

I took a few head-and-shoulder selfies in September and October that I actually like and am happy to share on this blog. I’m posting them with pictures of what I wore. You’ll just have to imagine how the full-length me looked in each outfit!

What I Wore in SeptOct

2014 is the year of the personalized necklace. Stella & Dot introduced a line of custom engravable necklaces, cufflinks, and ID tags in July. I wrote about how to select and engrave your personalized necklace here and here. I love layering my engravable necklaces with other necklaces in our line for a unique look. No one else will have my exact combination! We added some charms to our engravable line with our Holiday 2014 launch last week. Click here to see what we have (these make great gifts!)

The blue and white paisley top is from Ivy Jane’s Spring 2014 Collection and is no longer available (although you might check Marlo Miller Boutique to see if she has any on the sale rack.) This gorgeous high-low top is similar and part of the 2014 Fall Collection.

A note about the tunics: they are available at Marlo Miller Boutique in Houston and at small stores like it around the country. The store owners buy wholesale, which means you can only get the clothes from local merchants. When you click on the above links to the tunics and leggings, you will land on Marlo Miller Boutique’s Facebook fan page. I can’t link to specific pictures/items, so you’ll have to scroll through the pictures. (You might want to like her page; that way, you’ll see pictures of new items in your newsfeed.)

Remember – boutiques usually have limited sizes and quantities, and they can’t always reorder, so the tunic in the picture might not be available. You can get the Lysse leggings at Norstrom, although they don’t carry the whole line. (If you want to know why Lysse leggings are the BEST leggings, read this post!)

Fanella and Black and White Dress CollageMulti-Stripe Fit & Flare Dress, Fanella Statement Necklace, Janice Studs

I’ve worn the Fanella Statement Necklace with several dresses and tops. (I’m wearing it in my picture on the sidebar.) It looks great with EVERYTHING – trust me on this! A grey and white striped t-shirt, a chambray button-down, a little black dress, a pale pink cashmere sweater (oh, wouldn’t that be divine?) You will see this necklace in heavy rotation this fall!

What do you think of my outfits? I am sooooooo happy it’s leggings and boots weather. I’ve been wearing flats or sandals with my leggings, though; it’s not quite cold enough for boots in Houston. Can’t wait until the first real cold snap!

Check out what other bloggers are wearing this week!
