Every woman should have a jewelry wardrobe with go-to pieces that make her feel fabulous when she puts them on: her engagement or wedding ring; a personalized engravable necklace; a statement necklace; earrings from her mom or grandmother – something that expresses her unique style and connects her to the people and places that matter to her. When I am styling a guest at a Stella & Dot trunk show, the first question I ask is, “What kind of jewelry do you usually wear?” Answers range from “I never wear jewelry” to “I wear the same pieces every day” to “I only wear platinum and white gold from Tiffany.” (True story, that last one!) My job as a stylist is to help women select jewelry that complements their style, coloring, and personality and adds interest to her existing pieces. A cocktail ring can be the one piece that stands out from a woman’s everyday jewelry wardrobe and draws attention to her individual beauty.
It’s so pretty in person, and at $29, that’s some serious style for a steal!
As much as I love high-fashion jewelry, sometimes I want to have the real thing. But since the real thing isn’t in my budget, a virtual shopping trip will have to do. Online auction site, Invaluable, has thousands of rings ranging in price from $150 to $80,000+ (no, that’s not a typo.) Emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and amethysts set in platinum, yellow gold, or white gold with diamonds – just look at these stunners:
A cocktail ring is all about being noticed. Each of these rings is unique; no worrying about going to a party and seeing someone else wearing the same ring. How gauche!
I usually like platinum or white, but the yellow gold in the first ring sets off the diamonds and complements the emerald beautifully. It reminds me of The Wizard of Oz when the screen goes from black-and-white to technicolor.
The platinum and diamond ring in the middle takes my breath away. There are 19 carats of diamonds in this baby! Here are two other views:
Diamonds on the underside of the ring! It’s incredibly special and a size 7, which happens to be my size, in case anyone is wondering.
The cushion cut rubellite tourmaline ring has that vintage look I love. This ring would be fabulous with Stella & Dot’s Casablanca Collection for the holidays.
These rings are unbelievably beautiful, but I feel like I’d have to have an armed guard if I went out in public wearing one! This one is a little closer to my (virtual) price range:
The setting is simple, allowing the amethyst to take center stage.
Of course, if you give a girl a cocktail ring, she’s going to want an outfit to go with it! I would wear the Amethyst Cocktail Ring with a tunic and leggings (of course) in the fall.
I love grey and gold together, and the vibrant amethyst ring is the perfect accent. This outfit is so “me” – the necklace, bracelets, and earrings are pretty, but the ring is unusual and commands attention. I think I’ll put this ring on my virtual Christmas list. It’ll make Santa’s shopping very easy!
Thanks to Invaluable for the introduction to these amazing rings. Mixing high-fashion and real jewelry is a great way to get that original look we all want. Please visit the rings page on Invaluable’s website. Are there any that catch your eye? How would you wear them – with other gold or platinum jewelry or with pieces from a jewelry line like Stella & Dot? Tell me in the comments!
